Regarding the experiments at SPring-8
The following information is for users who will conduct experiments at SPring-8.
‧Apply for the beamtime - For the proposal principal investigator, information about how to apply for the beamtime (proposal application).
‧Before the experiment - For experimental members, information about user registration at SPring-8, required forms or documents, and accommodation reservation,... etc.
‧Experiment - information regarding the guesthouse check-in and check-out, user cards, dosimeters...etc. during the experiments.
‧After the experiment - information regarding the subvention for domestic (Taiwan) users, experiment reports, research outcomes and related required documents...etc.
‧Other information - some SPring-8 information regarding the experiments.
Groups who'd like to apply for the beamtime at Taiwan beamlines at SPring-8 shall finish the proposal application procedures onine as general TLS proposals. Regarding the proposal appliation procedures, please refer to "User Information" including detailed introduction at "General information for users" and "Proposal Application".
After the principal investigator receive the porposal review outcome, those PIs who have been awarded beamtime will receive further information about the SPring-8 experiments (for instance, SPring-8 proposal numbers, required documents and forms) from NSRRC user office.
Users who'll go to SPring-8 for experiments should finish the user registration (including uploading the photos) at SPring-8 user website in advance. You'll get your SPring-8 user card number once all the registration procedures are finished. Please keep your SPring-8 user card number and the password in mind so that you could log in and modify your personal information in the future.
Note 1: The principal investigator must finish the SPring-8 registration first then could submit the proposal application form.
Note 2: If the principal investigator would like to change your project team members at SPring-8 user website, please be sure the member has finished the SPring-8 registration already.
PIs who have been awarded beamtime please submit the proposal application form (B1 form) before the deadline at SPring-8 user website once you receive the informs from NSRRC user office. Regarding how to submit the proposal application form, please refer to the instruction.
Every experimenter who will go to SPring-8 for experiments must submit the Radiation Worker Registration Form (Form 5-1) each fiscal year. Click here for details.
Once SPring-8 announces the proposal review outcome, NSRRC user office will inform every principal investigator via emails. Principal investigator shall follow the instruction and then submit the Form 9 (List of Samples, Reagents, etc.) and Form 10 (Application Form for SPring-8 Facilities) respectively.
Online Form 10 and Form 9 submission procedure:
Note 1: In order to avoid the need to lodge at other locations due to full occupancy at SPring-8 guesthouse, the principal investigators are urged to complete the online submission of Form 9 and Form 10 to make experiment and accommodation related arrangements as early as possible.
Note 2: If the principal investigator need to add or modify the project team members, please click "Change Project Team Members" under "Before Arrival" section.
Note 3: Submitted Form 9 and Form 10 are not allowed to modify by the principal investigator. If there's any change required, please contact NSRRC User Office Ms. Elly Yen-Yin Chen via email (email@example.com).
If experimenters need the invitation letters for school leaves or for visa purpose, please contact NSRRC User Office Ms. Elly Yen-Yin Chen via email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please kindly be noted every experimenter must finish the registration at NSRRC User Portal as well.
According the Tax Law in Japan, import goods must pay the 5% import tax. Hence, if users mail the experimental samples to SPring-8, users must pay the import tax themselves. ‧check-in : please check-in from 16:00PM to 22:00PM at reception desk. If users can't check-in in time, please contact the person in charge (TEL: 002+81-0791-58-0933) at your earliest convenience.
‧check-out : please check-out from 10:00AM to 16:00PM. If users doesn't check out before16:00PM, the guesthouse will charge additional fee of the delay.
Note: If there's any change required of your reservation when you arrive Japan, please contact SPring-8 user office or SPring-8 guesthouse directly.
Every experimenter who goes to SPring-8 for expeiments first time in each fiscal year (April ~ March) must finish the radiation safety training.
‧arrive at SPring-8 during office hours: Please visit the SPring-8 user office first to pick up the radiation safety training materials. After finishing the training, user're quilfied to pick up the user card.
‧arrive at SPring-8 after office hours: Please visit the Public Relations Center during its opening hours to finish the radiation safety training then pick up the user card.
‧first time to visit SPring-8 in each fiscal year (April ~ March) : Please finish the radiation safety training then to pick up the user card.
‧already visited SPring-8 in each fiscal year (April ~ March) : Please visit the SPring-8 user office to pick up the user card and dosimeter directly during office hours. During the non-office hours, please pick up the user card and dosimeter at the main entrance.
Every group must submit one experiment report for one proposal after the experiment. The principal investigator shall submit the experiment report online at SPring-8 user website.

2. Under After Experiment section, choose Experiment Summary Report and fill in the information according to the “Experiment Report Submission” (http://portal.nsrrc.org.tw/uao/Form/SP8/SP8-report-submission.pdf).
Users must also publish the research results and register the publications in the SPring-8 Publications Database within 3 years from the end of the half-year research term.

It it is the users' responsibility to submit annual research results to User Administration and Promotion Office. In order to compile each year's research results, users should provide the following four types of data to NSRRC via online submission. Item 1 ~ 3 should be updated whenever there is any progress. For Item 4, please submit annual experiment report (maximum of 2 pages) for each proposal that has been granted beamtime during last year to User Administration and Promotion Office.
